Big Four

I'm currently studying the Technician Stage of the AAT Accounting Qualification (I passed all my exams at first sittings and I've only got the Unit 10 Project left to complete). I also have more than a year's accounting experience.
I would really like to work for one of the Big Four auditors (perhaps a finance assistant position or similar, but not in tax). I've made job applications to the Big Four (among other companies), I've also contacted recruitment agencies but I've had no luck and this has been going on for more than a year.
I read in the November 2008 issue of Accounting Technician that "According to TimeBank, up to 60% of job vacancies are not advertised and end up being filled internally or through external networking".
Would anyone please be able to give me some help or advice on how to get a job with one of the Big Four?
Thanks in advance.

Firstly well done
I have a friend that works with KPMG in london and started off just doing the AAT many years ago in newcastle the advise i was given was firstly get AAT which i am doing now.
Then when i suppose applying for any type of job you have to do your reserch start from the bottom and earn status.
However bearing in mind she didnt apply she was headhunted for the job.
Good luck and dont give up :001_smile:0 -
Have a look at 'AAT student' first and only post. he says:

I agree with you on that one & only a computer as a friend!0 -
Yup, I think you may be right there. Sorry about that.
Actually now that I think about it, we could consider the possibility that they are a hermaphrodite? That might explain why they don't need any friends as they can sit at home, alone!
(geddit? Alone! You see if they are a hermaphrodite, you can guess what they do to themselves......)0 -
The warnings seem to have shut him up.0

Was it something we said, do you think?
Oh heck I hope Data doesn't report me. I was hoping he/she and I could be friends. Actually no I wasn't hoping that, in fact I was hoping that it's pork chops for tea tonight. With apple sauce. Mmmmm.0
