Award ceremony near leicester? advice please

Im hoping someone can advise, I keep hearing of the award ceremonys and wondered what happens at these events? do we get another certificate? do we have cap and gowns ? or are these just for colleges ? and where abouts if any is there to be held nearest leicester? oh and one last thing I hear these are held later in the year so when around would people be receiving invites to these ?
