Any suggestions for suitable songs will be noted, as I have the unenviable task of picking this for my wedding this summer. My music tastes are broad, but I am struggling to think of anything suitable.

My niece chose "the Way You Look Tonight" Michael Buble does a version. And it was a lovely song.
But that was the only problem...so many artists do different versions of all songs, she took ages finding the right version for her.
If you google First Dance Songs...it bring's up loads of them...but it all depends on the words and if they have any meaning to your relationship.
Good luck with your search, I am sure whatever you pick it will be just right for you both.0 -
"Like the wind" - Dirty Dancing
"Kiss from a rose" - Seal
I can think of the tune of a few more but cant think of the names...
Good luck and all the best.
Let us know how it all goes.0 -
well with me being a dj. there is lots of choises !!!
my personal favourate is "road to hell""
only kidding........
robbie "angels"
but anyway "GOOD LUCK"0 -
My sister's DJ did a mix for her wedding. They started out with the beginning of "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith which we all thought was the first dance song on its own and then had "Kung Foo Fighting", Bobby Brown, Michael Jackson and a few others in the middle before finishing back with "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing". Very entertaining :001_smile:0

Was thinking of Lets Stay Together (the one on the pulp fiction soundtrack)
Really like that song. Tough Choices we have to make!0 -
well the thing being is. both choise one each then play both.....
then have a fun one to get everyone up ??0 -
We had You're the Best Thing by the Style Council.0
-
LeAnne Rimes "How can i live without you" gets me dragged up to the dancefloor by the mrs every time.0
-
What's your splendid intended's name? Maybe there's a song for her?
If it was Dianne, the Batchelors did a cheesy song, it was awful but yer pays yer money and you takes yer chance.....
I'm desperately trying to come up with other girlie name songs. Annie's song by John Denver! That's a double cheesey song.
We had Wonderful Tonight, it makes me heave when I hear it now....
Andy Williams did something called the Hawaian Wedding Song?
If it was me again, I would have Marie's Wedding, which is a Scottish traditional tune, but you could ham it up on the dancefloor....(especially if you could get your hands on a couple of swords...cooool)0 -
How's about Bloodsplattered Chainsawslaughter by Last Days of Humanity? Just a thought.
Or more seriously The Triffids - Bury Me Deep in Love, The Go-Betweens - Love is a Sign or Yo La Tengo - Centre of Gravity would be my choices.0 -
I've heard of someone having Soul Limbo as their first dance!:laugh:0
-
Nick Cave - Are you the one that I've been waiting for?
Sample Lyrics ->
I've felt you coming girl, as you drew near
I knew you'd find me, cause I longed you here
Are you my destiny? Is this how you'll appear?
google the rest if the lyric - wouldn't want to break any copyright0 -
Barry White- "You're the First, the Last, My Everything" or "Can't Get Enough of Your Love Babe"0
-
I'm currently liking "9 Million Bicycles" by Katie Melua:
There are six billion people in the world
More or less
And it makes me feel quite small
But you're the one I love the most of all
We're high on the wire
With the world in our sight
And I'll never tire
Of the love that you give me every night
There are nine million bicycles in Beijing
That's a fact
It's a thing we can't deny
Like the fact that I will love you 'til I die0 -
If we're doing unusual song titles, how about "Rancid Whore Tied To A Bedpost And Covered In battery Acid" unless she doesn't like Russian death metal?
Failing that, "Three Times A Lady" is a beautiful sentiment for someone you love. Lionel Richie also does probably the saddest break up song too - "Still" - but hopefully you won't need that anytime soon!0 -
Now it probably says something about me that I can come up with just three songs for a wedding but if called upon could manage dozens of break-up songs.0

I know a song thats universal and always contains every persons name no matter who
Happy Birthday to you happy birthday to you happy birthday day dear *****0 -
We got married last July and had a civil service in an old Manor house which was lovely - we had all our own music during the ceremony which was personal to us including Songbird - Eva Cassidy and Paul Weller (as mentioned before) then at the end when we were wed we had Barry White - First Last Everything at full volume which made every body laugh and dance their way back down the aisle
Our first dance was - Van Morrison - Someone Like you (Dina Caroll also does a version) Here are the opening words
I've been searching a long time
For someone exactly like you
I've been travelling all around the world
Waiting for you to come through.
Someone like you makes it All worth while
Someone like you keeps Me satisfied.
Someone exactly Like you.0 -
I had Eric Clapton - Wonderful tonight
I like the thought of the Barry White First Last Everything as well.
Avoid Police - every breath you take - that is a stalker song.0 -
-
I wasnt really a stalker. Just pretty standard really, rescued her from a burning building, carrying her over my shoulder, and it started from there really.0
-
Im having the rembrandts 'i'll be there for you'!0
-
Bryan Adams - I'm ready. But you can't have that cos it's gonna be mine :001_tongue: some day... :crying:0

How about Burn baby burn or relight my fire or whats that one that goes "the roof the roof the roof is on fire..... great holiday song.:001_tt2:0 -
Paul has me thinking about Weddings AGAIN!!!
Our song would definitely HAVE to be Shania Twain - You're Still The One
The words fit perfectly to our lives.... for instance
When I first Saw You, I Saw Love - I did, I remember my stomach going up and down to this day over 7 years on!
And the first time you touched me I felt Love - as above, I was so chuffed!
And after all this time ..... you're still the one I love - Indeed I am, I'd be stupid not to!
Looks like we made it, look how foar we come my baby - from where we were to where we have gotten now - amazing.
We might have took the long way - yes, we took some wrong turns, but we got to where we wanted to be in the end.
We knew we get there some day - we knew what we wanted and got it
They said i bet they'll never make it - close friends on both sides said we would never stay together more than 6 months.... we won.
But just look at us holding on - sticking 2 fingers up to those who doubted us
Still together still going strong - still sticking those 2 fingers up
I could go on because that song just fits our lives perfectly...
DAMN YOU PAUL!!! LOOK WHAT YOU'RE DOING!!!
I MIGHT JUST BOOK IT AND THEN THERE'S NO CHOICE BUT TO GO AHEAD!0 -
I really think you should if that's how you feel about her - and not too embarassed to announce it publicly. I still feel like that about my husband after 23 years. Go for it :thumbup:0

I'd tell anyone anywhere... infact, I was looking last night on the quiet about doing it in a castle in scotland :-)0 -
That sounds lovely - how romantic! Does your other half know or are you going to surprise her?0
