Can anyone explain seasonal variations? Also this is realy stupid of me but how do you know whether to deduct or add them?

If it shows as a plus on the paperwork, deduct it.
If it shows as a minus on the paperwork, add it.

When you have a trend and want to find forecast sales, do as the + or - says.
When you want the trend from the sales records, do the opposite
Rather than blindly learning it, think it through and remember this:
The + or - means the amount that the sales (+) is more trend or is (-) less than the trendSandy
