Is it because you are in Germany and on a completely different time zone?

I think Germany must be at least 20 years ahead of us when I look at the autobahn and then perhaps a hundred years behind us when I think of sauerkraut and lederhosen.

Finding only an hour's difference must be a result, surely?

Apropos of not very much ... I used to know a few people from Bielefeld back when I was doing my PhD, they've a big sociology of science department there.

And I like sauerkraut and German sausies too. And I have a Grade 2 CSE in German and that's about the limit of my connections to Germany apart from my dad's enforced stay there during the last big dust-up.
