I am a volunteer treasurer for our local cub group and i have now been appointed as district treasurer.
apparently because i am studying AAT and i have ran the accounts successfully for the last year and a bit, i was the preferred candidate.
i am chuffed to bits. it is another thing i can put on my CV

well looking for a few hours of extra work as data entry or basic bookkeeping ?
so keep on trying to put my name out !!! no luck yet?0 -
Well done Tracy and luck has nothing to do with it - rather hard work, knowledge and most crucially, a get up and go aptitude! Nice to see something positive in amongst the mass of dreary anecdotes that have been on here lately.0

too true.........just got to keep going and going and going.....0

thanks all for the positive well dones.
although it is only a volunteer position, i don't get any payment at all for it, but i do gain experience and knowledge and a feeling of 'i did that'. considering i started off with a bank card and a tin of money, i have managed to get the accounts now in credit (scary - was being run at a big loss) and the accounts are audited and pass with flying colours.
yes, a get up and go does help, i sit there for 3 hours every thursday night with upto 40 kids screaching - it is not for the faint hearted, but i do get a lot back.
if your kids do any clubs, it is worth asking if the need the books doing - this is what i did and i find that now the scout leader can do his job without having to worry about the money side of things. i am CRB checked and the group paid for this too, so it only costs me my time. nothing else.
