Hello all, and thanks in advance for what I am sure will be your valuable advice
I am starting up in practice and have my first client. He has the old story that his current accountants seem to have done a rubbish job and he wants me to take over. He says there is a form to fill out to compel the old accountants to turn over all his paperwork to me, can anyone point me in the direction of this form?
Thanks!

go onto the hmrc website and on the search bar put in 64/8, once he has signed this and you have submitted this to the HMRC then you can write a professional letter to his old accountants asking them for everything to do with his accounts.....ie. last years accounts upto date records for payroll and everything else..0

OK so it's not a specific form, you just write to the accountants and ask for it?
I know about the one to HMRC, thanks!0 -
nope doesnt seem like nothing out of the ordinary that you need to be writing for....0

Hi Psyche, did you not do the Professional Ethics when studying AAT? Professional clearance is covered and there's a example of a letter in the book. Basically you need to request professional clearance as well as copies of accounts, tax returns etc0

Ethics isn't a unit on the NVQ route0

No, I did not do ethics, which is a shame. I understand though that once you have finished your AAT qualification you can go back and take any modules that you missed. I may do that because I do think EVERY AAT technician should have this module, not just the diploma students.0
