Yes and I am very bored. It is a very quiet month end as the posties are all on strike so I cannot do the accruals until tuesday now.
The answer given only says that they "probably" don't sleep. I really do need to know for sure. It is extremely important into my current research project. That is, which fly should I let live in the fridge at work.0 -
That's about as far away from an answer as it's possible to get. He starts with "I'm no expert", slots in "though I don't know" and adds in the theory that because cats and dogs lie down and close their eyes and flies (presumably) don't, flies therefore don't sleep. And are (in)capable of learning apparently but the little buggers know how to fly away when you're just about to swat 'em.
And sleep is not easy to define in humans? Well, if they're not awake or breathing then they're probably dead, if just the former then I'd hazard a fair guess they're just asleep.
The only true word in Christopher Grayces answer is the word sorry at the end and so he should be, for writing such an indecisive, incoherent piece of crap on something he clearly knows cock all about.
Do flies sleep? Probably. Will a fly live in a fridge? Probably not.0 -
Well, you can't catch the little twots in the daylight but if you can see them on the wall when it's fairly dark, they're easy to kill. So IMO either they've got crap eyesight or they're catching some zeds.0

if a fly couldnt fly would it have to be reclassed as a "walk" ?0
-
I have known a few disabled flies, and yes they have told me that they prefer to be known as "walkies" rather than walks. They do not like to be disabled as some of them feel that this results in them be too closely related to their arch enermies, the humans.
And before you ask why I haven't asked my fly friends if they sleep, they flew away a fews days ago, so I cannot.

Ive always wondered that in my house upto about 1 month ago i hardly seen any flys what so ever even when the window were open we only got the odd one in the house. but we got a pussy cat and since then it seems like every fly in the whole street has decided that my house is the party capital of the street ?:laugh:0

Got a fly story.....
One day a big fat fly was flying round our living room.
Hubby got his roll of newspaper (this was before the "Executioner" was invented) and swiped the fly (missing a few times as normal) then eventually got it on the windowsill....
Poor thing had a poorly tummy.....and my hubby said "Ahh look at that.....its giving birth!!!..."
And sure enough all its babies came crawling out.....Lots of tiny weenie maggots......
So then I learnt what they do when they sit on your uncovered food. They lay a tiny weenie maggot...
So we kill them all now....no keeping them alive in the fridge at all or anywhere else.
So go buy the "Excecutioner" now......0 -
You are all so mean. My little fly friend has not choice but to have a little sleep in the fridge as he has gotten a bit sun burnt. I have taken all the food out so it should be OK I think. Anyway Ricardo is a boy fly not a girl fly so he won't be laying any magots.0

what the hell is that all about ?0

It's a moving tale of a girl and her pet fly. Soon to be a major motion picture - Ricardo and Me, starring Tom Hanks as 'Ricardo'.0
