Tecnician Stage - Project
Hi Heather,

I completed my AAT Technician Project on the Accounting systems on the company I worked for.

This included an analysis of the systems in place, such how the department inputs, outputs and processes involved. I then aimed to identify improvements to the department systems.

The project was around 15 pages long and was in a standard report format, there are standards attain which are set so, you be aiming to cover all aspects required within the report.

I think you can cover almost any area of you work you are involved in, as long they are suffecient to meet the standards.

I hope this of some help.

Regards0 -

Hi

I'm a technician student and I've just had my project signed off. To say that it is not a popular unit is an understatement. I actually bought the Unit 10 book (when I knew I'd passed intermediate exams) and read it before starting back at college in Sept.

good luck with it .... 4000 words seems a lot but as our tutor reassured us all once you get started it's not actually that bad.

Libby

0 -
Tecnician Stage - Project
Many students suffer palpitations when they are first asked to undertake the technician stage projects. This can be a testing area for those who do not work in an accounting environment but rest assured, whether you do or you don't, this part of the syllabus should be viewed as far less erroneous than the actual exam taking !

If you work in a Finance/ Accounts department then base your project on an improvement you have actually made or one that needs making. I would suggest something in the data gathering/ interpretation area. Ask yourself or your manager where improvements need to be made in the understanding of cost or revenue data. Maybe your bespoke accounting package is hopeless at reporting costing data for example. Could you derive an off system method of collecting information or possibly create a report in the system ??

If you are not in Finance then you will have to lean on your tutors or mentors. You may be set scenarios which will set you thinking. Four thousand words or so is not so bad ... !

Set your project out like you would a science project :-

Aim - what needed to be achieved
Method - how you actually managed to make the improvement
Result - what benefits were derived, what feedback was received

Make sure you use your reporting skills with references, diagrams, illustrations and either a list of contents or an index. It does help if you present it in a clear and professional looking manner.

Best of luck

David

0 -
