Concerned about NVQ

Can anyone say how their college deals with this situation -just wondering if I have done the wrong qualification? I have very nearly completed all the skills tests and centrals, just Unit 7 to do, I have now turned my attention to the NVQ portfolio part and wondered what arrangements exist for students who don't yet work in accounts? Starting to panic?

The skills tests covers all areas of the portfolio that the exam doesn't. At least this is what we were told and were signed off as by our tutor.0
