One of my client asking for my advice on how to set up a new on line selling knitted accessories separate from her existing Digital printing LLP company using a different name.
She dosen't want to set up LTD or LLP she want to trade as a sole trader and register her new company name so that no one will take the name. Can she do that? How? Please advice as I have no experiance on setting up a new company.
Many Thanks.

Hi
If she wants to trade as a sole trader for her new business she wouldn't necessarily be setting up a new company.
I don't know of any way to protect her sole trader name unless she also sets up a company with the same name and leaves it dormant. Even then I don't know if it is completely protected. I'm sure others will correct me if I'm wrong.0 -
For trade marks you want the ipo at http://www.ipo.gov.uk/t-whatis.htm regardless of soletrader/reg company status.
Hope it helps
