Did anyone else notice that the answer in both the original published answer
and the revised copy for 08/09 allowance figures, are both incorrect.

In both cases it shows the gross income. When, according to HMRC it should show the
figure after deducting the amounts for
- Payroll Giving
- Contributions to your employer's pension scheme.

The document published by HMRC:-
sa102-notes.pdf
Employment notes
Tax Year 6 April 2008 to 5 April 2009

says on page 2

"Income not to be included on the employment pages, or anywhere else in your tax return.
- Payroll Giving
- Contributions to your employer's pension scheme."

And again this is repeated for pensions on the top of page 3 which says:-

"The box 1 figure is the pay after any contributions to your employer's
pension scheme."

What are we supposed to do in this exam next week. (4 Dec)

Thanks

Angela

At college my tutor said it should be net of the two contributions you have mentioned however if you were to put the figure in gross you would still get credit.

location of revised PTC 2008 exams for 2009 figures/calculations

This is in answer to the question on the thread about an incorrect
answer for the PTC Employment Box 1 - which incorrectly includes the
pension contribution when it should be salary net of pension

They have hidden these papers at the VERY end of the list
    - when clearly they SHOULD be at the top.

Note that box 1 is not the only incorrect answer.
The calculations for 3 rental properties have a load of small errors too.
But the answer still correctly shows the method of calculation.

    Go to https://www.aat.org.uk/myaat/
Click in the center of the screen where it says:-

    Open + NVQ/SVQ Technician - 2003 standards

Then click on where it says

    > Unit 19 - Preparing personal taxation computations

Then scroll down down down down..... to where you see
