I just need to share somewhere where people will understand how excited, relieved, bouncing-off-the-walls-happy I am to have just heard that my Unit 10 Project has been signed off. This was the final hurdle - I am now (subject to AAT sending me the certificate) AAT qualified!!

To all those who can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, keep at it. Although it is hard work, it's so worth it - the view from here is beautiful!

Well done Mambo can't wait to be in your shoes. Out of interest did you do a sim for unit 10 or your own thing?

Thanks guys & girls. Really can't concentrate on work this afternoon - just too excited!

Did my own thing for Unit 10, jilt (love your avatar BTW). I'm a Practice Administrator and have implemented a new database system at work which brings together contact & project information, time & expenses and the sales ledger - it's fantastic! - so it was an obvious choice for Unit 10. I think the trick for me was pretending that I was a consultant employed to analyse the company processes so I could stand back at look at it all impartially & then make my recommendations. Of course probably the best tip is to just get on with it, procrastination won't help you get it done!

    Well done,
Just need Monday and Friday exams to go away and I am about to start do Unit 10. In my case it is simulations. Not sure will be hard or not. Unfortunatelly I cant use my own work case :(

I don't exactly work in accounts and I called up Kaplan to see if I could get a simulation for Unit 10 but she urged me to try to find something I could do through my work rather than use a sim as its preferred? Does it actually make any difference?
I do use a tiny portion of the finance part of our company system, and understand a fair bit more of it but I am struggling to see how I can relate that to the project as its unlikely I am actually going to be able to implement any system changes as thats highly improbable the way things are at the moment.
Does it actually make a difference making your own to using a sim?

i don't know if it makes a diffrence but i work in an accounting department and my college let me do the sim. i couldn't face interviewing people and giving a presentation to the managers if i done one based on work.

All you need to do is analyse the processes in place, then make recommendations - you don't need to actually apply them in your workplace. You can simply say, this is what happens now, these are the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities & Threats to the existing system, based on these SWOTs this is what I would do to improve the system, and this is how I would set about implementing the changes.

You then shove it under the nose of your workplace supervisor only - you don't need to interview anyone, unless it would be helpful to you.
