does anyone know how to insert a PDF file on a word document?

You need to go into insert > object> and then select the pdf

Tried that but the inset just comes up as a box with lines runing through it.
I didnt mention it is a secured PDF Format file0 -
hmmmm there is a box you can tick to say "display as icon"

right have tried that the icon shows with the link for display online bit i would like the acual document shown in an report the person can print off.0

bugga not paying for it tho and the converter puts it logo though it unless you pay dam almost had it0

There are some free online PDF to Word converters, Google should come up with quite a few. Again not something I've really used so can't make recommendations.0

Could you not just send someone the link to it on HMRC so they can print one out, or have I got the wrong end of the stick.......again0

It's a bit of a fudge but you could try taking a screen-shot and paste it in your document as an image.0

yeah i was also thinking of scanning it and trying to add it that way too0

hi
if it is just one page you could try to select it and copy and paste it into word (paste special) as an enhanced picture.
then go to the picture, select it and in word find the picture tools > format> text wrapping> tight
you then should be able to modify the picture and even write on it ...
Thats how i used the VAT form on pdf into my word report
