Smileys take up very little server space and however many you use in a post makes no real difference. Images also don't use up any space as you're linking to them from other sites though obviously the number/size of images on any page will impact on page rendering times and thus usabilty particularly for people with slow internet connections -this is especially annoying when people quote posts with images and don't edit them out.

My real beef is the admins taking away the extended editing interface, I'm not aware of any good reason for that other than to make life needlessly difficult.

Nothing wrong with a bit of conflict and we all need a good ass kicking every now and then. Most of my nasty posts are actually tongue in cheek but I'd rather people make their own minds up about them. I do hate it though when I see a serious post with a smiley or internet abbreviation in it.

Does putting LOL at the end of a sentence forgive what you've actually written in that sentence?
