Does everyone insist on seeing clients bank statements before producing their accounts for CH & HMCE or do you accept a clients cash book?
I have always insisted on bank statements however, I have a client who seems to have very few transactions and the bank wants to charge £5 per statement and doesn't seem to get anything on-line.
Should I refuse if I can't get bank statements.
Thanks for your help

The standard letter of engagement states that we are not auditors. If a client just wanted to give me a summary of the transactions I would accept that. After all if they are lying then it is they who will be in trouble for it, not you.
How does the client get their bank records?0 -
Thanks for your response.
They are electronic but only for 90 days0
