Hi All!
This is my first post on here so I though I would take the opportunity to say Hello to everyone.
I would also like to say thank you to all that post on this chat forum because all your posts have answered a lot of questions for me about the AAT Courses.
I am looking to start AAT certificate level around July time as a distance learning student.
I am not currently working in accounts and it will be a totally new career change for me so your posts really have been helpful already.
Anyway I will shut up for now and I hope to speak and get to know you all better soon.

Hi Vicky
We're all very friendly here and it's really great that you've introduced yourself.
Welcome aboard the mad ship AAT!

Thank you for being welcoming!
Its a great forum and I think its important to interact with people in similar situations and at different levels especially being a distance learner as you dont get that classroom help and interaction.
Thanks again and I am sure I will be annoying you all soon with silly questions :-)0 -

I've been Distance Learning since Nov 2007 and only have two exams to complete. It can be hard working on your own, especially when you get stuck on a topic; but as you have already identified there is always help at hand here.
You say you are starting at certificate level, do you have any experience yet, because you can do the online skills test to see if you can skip straight onto Intermediate level?
I believe that you can also access free foundation level learning online.
What are you doing exactly?

I have no experience in accounts at all so believe the certificate level would best suit me and looking at posts on the forums, it looks like that a lot of new students have some troubles with debits and credits.
Wasn't aware that I could access free foundation level, have you any more information on this please?0 -
I'm sure that I saw it on the AAT website, but it may have been a while ago; I'll see if I can find it again once all my boys are fed, watered and ready to fly!!!FMAAT - AAT Licensed Member in Practice - Pewsey, Wiltshire0

I have already noticed that this place is addictive, once you have looked once you seem to just keep coming back. I have been on most evenings before I joined looking at posts.

Hi Vicky,
I started Distance Learning in 2008 and am now at Technician Level. I agree totally that it is harder studying this way as you only have your Books to go by. To be honest though sometimes I find learning something myself is better as I dont feel rushed (good job as I need to reread chapters numerous times before it clicks). I have a Tutor who helps if I am stuck but as others said you can get great advice on here from those that have already done the Level you are at.
Good Luck with your studies
