sat navs

Could someone give me some advice about a purchase of a sat nav. We have a self-employed driver who hires his business vehicle and has now bought a sat nav. He really needs it for his business, would it be acceptable to put to motor expenses and, as it can be used in other vehicles, would there need to be a private usage element?

Private usage is dependent on if there is any private use. If it's only used for business then it's an allowable expense (I'd put it to expensed equipment). If there is private use, use an appropriate percentage.
To my knowledge there isn't any clause about being available for private use for sat navs, but don't quote me on it0 -
Thanks for that, I will check re private usage.0
