I am a Registered MIP but have been unsuccessful in finding clients. Recently I have been getting e-mails about applying to become a 'Local Bookkeeper' from a Company that specialises in finding Clients. I have been trying to find out more about this company and what the implications are about becoming an employee of the company. Has anyone heard about the company or know anthing about it?

    Never heard of it.

    Read the small print!!

How are you trying to find business? Have you put cards up in windows and put adverts in local magazines (eg parish magazines, Dentons directory)? When I was a bookkeeper these worked best for me until word of mouth kicked off.

I think I've seen sbout them somewhere.

I believe that it's some kind of franchise who work to some kind of set proforma's and they take you off for a week and train you up in 'their ways'.

They then provide you with a list of potential clients and, bit like a clockwork mouse, off you go ......

Obviously they charge you for the privilege of providing you with all the training, leads and ongoing support.

Like Monsoon say's it's well worth plastering your business cards locally (and further afield, as not everyone wants/likes their accountant on their doorstep) and also investing in some noticeable advertising.

I don't know that I would want to keep forking out for the franchise thing - and I'm not sure how easy it would be to extracate yourself if you wanted to in the long run either!

I think I would feel that I had more control paddling my own canoe, but that's just my opinion.

Thank you for the info. and suggestions. I have tried most of the suggestions but sadly no luck!
If, and when I get any clients, how much is it likely to cost in terms of investing in setting up costs re. software etc.?

    Kind Regards
