Hello, - if someone decreases their hours from 37.5 to 29 hours - 77.33% decrease how do you calculate the salary.

I assume if they were on 19,000 this would be 0.7733 x 19,000 = 14,693.33 gross salary.

But can you simply calculate 0.7733 of the net salary (1220) to work out the net salary which would be 943.26? Or is it not this straight forward becuase of the tax etc?

Thanks for your help

I would calculate their hourly rate:

    £19,000 / 52 weeks / 37.5 hours = £9.743589741 per hour

Then calculate new salary for 29 hours

    29 hours * £9.743589741 * 52 weeks = £14,693.33 per annum

    £14,693.33 / 12 months = £1,224.44 per month

You would have to put the gross salary through payroll to calculate tax and NI - therefore the net pay will be a different proportion full time net pay.

    Or (19,000 / 37.5 ) x 29 = 14,693.33
