Self assessment tax form

A friend is a sole trader and completes his own tax form (self assessment) - he has just completed the latest year and the final page that shows the calculation states that the amount owed is x - can anyone confirm that this is the amount he oes to HMRC rather than this being the amount owed to him. I think he owes this amount, the figure is in black and is a debit value, any help appreciated.

On the tax calculation, you should see the words "total tax overpaid" if he is due back any tax. You should also be able to see from the calculations that the tax is owed.
