Hi Fellow AAT students
I've just sat down to start studying for the DFS exam and I don't know where to start!
Has anyone got any tried and tested ways of helping me getting started in this subject...
I understand in class but when left to my own devices!!! I'm lost!!!

Have you gone through the books and learned it all?
If so, reread your notes and such. Do lots of practice exams and see what areas you still need to work on...
If you are just starting, then start with working your way through the book.0 -
And join our DFS revision thread..... hehehehe!!0

Oh, Rachey is right, join the game too!0

I am sitting the DFS exam in 2 weeks and I am really worried about it. I passed the first section but failed the 2nd section in december. I am spending the whole weekend on learning the ratio's and analysing the company information as this is the part I failed on.0

We joke at college about just staring at the book hoping something will click, this seems to be the beginning of the process for each set of new concepts we have to grasp!!! There are several stages of staring more for some people than others! then the little clicks start to happen!
We could start a thread on just ratio analysis?? I found talking to OH about this subject worked well, so I think conversations really help here.
So whose's going first?0 -
So you're not a hobbit?
I thought it was quite a nice thought really.
AAT now offering study to humans and hobbits....0 -
Hi, I was wondering do you have to repeat the whole exam or just the section you didn't pass?

Hi rach
A fail on one section in an exam means a total re-sit0 -
I just saw the discussion over hobbits, made me LOL!!! actually I meant 'other half' I suppose he does look at bit like a hobbit sometimes the hair and all ,(though I won't tell him).
Sorry to be boring again but...now about explanations of ratios?
eg. explain Interest Cover?0 -
This is a finance ratio - profit from ops/finance costs. It measures whether you are making enough profit to cover your finance costs.
Q - What ratio is also known as primary ratio and why?0 -
Return on Capital employed also known as the Golden ratio because it is the most effective ratio used in financial analysis. It expresses the operating profit of an entity in relation to the resources available to it. It helps with appreciation of the same return on cap employed being reached in different ways, depending on the type of business. It can be broken down in to the two secondary factors of;
