in Consolidated statements i know you have to work out the 5 steps (goodwill etc) but when it takes to actually putting it on the statement you just add say the assets together as a total rather than total of parent + % of subsidiary assets?

Yep you are right.
For the SoFP, the only bit where you have the non-controlling part split out is in the equity section. All the rest you got the total amounts of both (except for goodwill, share capital and retained earnings).0 -
