I bacame a full member of AAT in October last year, and as a result have just managed to land myself a nice new job where they are going to put me through CIPFA.. (Glutton for punishment.)
While I've been in my current job I've continued to update my online CPD log whenever I've done relevant excercises/courses.
Now that I'm going to start CIPFA do I need to continue trying to update the CPD log? I would've thought CIPFA would be enough CPD for anyone..

    Hi,

I'm doing ACCA at the moment, having also become a member of the AAT in October.

I contacted the AAT about whether my ACCA taught and revision courses count as CPD for the AAT. The answer was yes.

So, I am putting all my courses for ACCA (together with any other little bits that count as CPD at work) into my AAT online CPD log. I expect the same would apply to CIPFA.

Thank you for clearing this up as I phoned up AAT not so long ago to make sure that my CIMA training counted towards CPD and I was told not.... Due to this being a formal training course.

I was somewhat surprised by this as one of the best ways to advance your knowledge and build onto AAT is by going on to do either CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA etc

Good Luck to anyone awaiting results

I've e-mailed the AAT, linking them to this thread, to find out once and for all whether ACCA/CIMA etc. courses count towards CPD!

I'll let you know what happens.
Hello. I am the AAT's Professional Development Manager, and am responsible for the CPD scheme.

Any activity counts as CPD as long as it results in a significant learning outcome that is relevant to your professional role or career development. Studying for further accountancy qualifications clearly meets this criteria, and so definitely does count as CPD.

This activity is indeed an excellent way to advance your knowledge and build on your AAT qualification, and a great commitment to your continuous development.

I am going to study the Certificate in Personnel Practice starting in the new school year and would like to know that as this is not an accounting/finance qualification but run by CIPD that it would count towards my CPD.

Andrew
