Quote from the above article:
Sandy Hood, a lecturer in Business and Management was named as "Teacher of the Year" in the Chichester Observer's 2008 Community Awards. Sandy is respected in the College for his ability to teach both high level accountancy courses and Level 3 business and make it interesting for all his students. He is also well known in the College community for his ability to spread his own brand of warmth and happiness.
I tried to find that clip where you made poor old Fred Dinenage do a star jump Sandy but gave up!!!

The overriding message is that Steve and Sandy offer revision courses, not tuition courses, where people have already learned the syllabus. And while I've never sat any of their classes, presumably students are made fully aware of what they're paying for in advance. Word of mouth through this forum alone ensures that they get repeat business year after year after year. Both are highly sought after and valued when it comes to answering individual queries and we're all very fortunate indeed that they take personal time out to do this and without charge.
All hail Sandy and Steve!0 -

Yes but a reply to my questions would be good or cant you stand by what you say?
You happened to mention in another thread you didnt mean to stalk steve however as mentioned by other students you dont seem to offer any guidance or help to student on here.
Also you mentioned about full syllibus tutors????? well in that case you must be quite the expert as having just completed diploma on a part-time basis at college there are numerous tutors that teach the different units what they feel is their stronger area. Of the two tutors i had the tax tutor was a full time tutor and management and finacial papers was a part-time tutor as he had his own pratise (does that make him any less of a tutor or even better as he deals with the subject first hand)0 -
Beverley
I have chosen to quote you and then ask why.
I appreciate that you want to stick to your point of view, but I would like to know why.I do have reservations on these "unapproved" courses offered by Steve and Sandy in that the courses they offer tend to only be 1 day.
I still stand by my opinions
My question:
Why do you consider the courses I have been taking are "unapproved"?
They are very often one-day courses, but certainly have the approval of AAT.Sandy

The full time tutor in the FE college who taught me DFS also had a high level of teaching experience. Unfortunately the way he droned on about the subject would even have put the chief assessor asleep.
As well as a thorough practical working knowledge of DFS, Steve projects massive energy and enthusiasm for the subject which results in you learning and remembering what he says, without even realising it, and certainly without it being a chore.
It is perhaps worth noting that these revision courses are there, because there is a demand for them. By the time we get to level 4, I would say a majority of people are already working full time, and a weekend revision course, booked in advance, sits well with their schedules. I would also add, that getting out of a class size that can be anything from 15-20 people in size, also aids that revision.0 -
I just think Steve and Sandy are amazing people who obviously care about the students and know their stuff. Steve has even once gone to the trouble of letting me ring him for advice and was so helpful and friendly.
Keep up the good work Steve!0 -
We all know Steve and Sandy are two great tutors, what we don't know is...beverly hudson!! who is she? because she's ignoring all our questions, she looks very suspicious...I bet she's not even a tutor.0

steve and sandy both are indeed one of the best tutors on aat forums They spend there valuable time for students who come up with there questions and dont even charge a single penny . I have not attended steves revision courses but i haven't seen a single person here who is unsatisfied after the revision course but more often we see people complaining about there full time tutors .. as far as sandy is concerned after attending sandys revision course ( booked through aat ) i am more confident then my last attempt . The good thing about sandys revision course is that he dont recommend students to adopt his method of doing a question to create a sheer panic before one week of exam as long as you are doing the basics right he is happy with it. Beverly hudson is a tutor as well so respect for the individual she can certainly add some value to the forums and can be helpful to the students. There was some misunderstanding on her part regarding the verification of these courses which sandy have clarified that they are approved by aat so she knows now that we are in good hands .0

While I'm not a fan of someone taking it upon themselves to personally close threads, I do think this topic has more than run its course and imagine that Beverley would rather see a line drawn under this too. Starting up individual threads solely to attack another poster is a huge etiquette no-no as far as I'm concerned unless the poster genuinely deserves it (which Beverley hasn't).
I do believe Beverely is a genuine tutor - albeit maybe a little out of touch with certain things - but it's undoubtedly better to have her inside the forum, hopefully contributing, than on the outside, feeling she's been "ex-communicated".0 -
I've been on one of Sandy's courses and can hand on heart say that he is one of the most inspiring people I've ever met.
I enjoyed the day immenesly and one day was all I could manage around my busy work and family commitments. There is a place for one day courses - not everybody has infinite time on their hands to attend longer revision courses.
I went into and came out of my exam feeling confident about passing. You'll recall PCR was the exam that everyone has really complained about this year!
PCR to me will always be Apple Pies - without Sandy it would forever have been budgets!!!FMAAT - AAT Licensed Member in Practice - Pewsey, Wiltshire0 -
I too have been on one of Sandy's courses at Kingsway Hall and would like to say how I found it extremely useful and most certainly helped me study for and pass the Intermediate Level - I would definitely recommend!0
-
Just adding my tuppence worth (or if you prefer 'two pence worth'), Sandy is worth his weight in gold!0

Its really interesting this thread, I know its been some time since it started but the real crux of it all was that the lady was bemoaning unofficial courses.
first of all so what, both Sandy and Steve have put fabulous stuff on here, and in articles and so on, all of which have helped me to understand the material better. so thankyou guys
And secondly they do do official ones dont they, Sandy did the AAT official revision course this year.
I dont really understand Beverly's gripe to be honest, she just seemed to be harping on about unofficial 1 day revision courses etc etc. I have been on three 1 day revision courses and they were superb, really consolidated my knowledge, they arent there to teach you from scratch but to cover the more difficult areas and to answer questions. I found them totally useful.0 -
