Don't get MAAT in 3 years - you start again?

Is there any truth in the rumours that if you complete all the technician levels and pass for AAT, and do not get an accounting job and hence the MAAT in 3 years, you then have to start the qualification all over again?

This has to be just a ghastly urban myth - surely?

There is some truth in it.

You don't have to do all the aat units again but may be required to do some new units that were not there when you completed your qualification.

If you don't become a member within a prescribed time, you will not qualify to become a member unless you update your skills / knowledge to the current required levels.

so for example with the new standards comming, AAT could ask you to complete the ethics unit and or spreadsheets and VAT units.
