Just to let you all know, after months and months of ints, 2 yrs of blood sweat and tears I have a new post, Accounts Admin Ass at a well established company in H and S. Really nice firm who's ethic is cpd and a can be done attitude. Thanks to everyone who has given me support over the last 2yrs and a bit and you know who you are!!! I started last week and have only just got round to letting you all know.
Good luck to all of you who are still looking and I wish you well. Keep the faith, because your dream job is just around the corner, be yourself, be true and think before you speak, there is no time limit on when you answer the question or task.
Thats how I got my new position. xx

Congratulations both.
I hope these posts are inspiring to those who are still looking, the job market is tough in all industries at the moment but you are both proof that hard work and determination do yield results.
I hope you're both happy in your new roles0 -
Well just completed my first week and they havent asked me to leave yet, so I must be doing something right, name not number set up, nice people, nice place, own office, complete kitchen, swings and round abouts, yes seems too good to be true but is so far. Have learnt tons already. Did the most boring job from hell on Monday and completed it Tue, but Im sure next month I will be able to complete it quicker. Got to watch the weight now as the bickies come out regular and one of the guys bought loads of M and S cakes, and if there are training day there are platters of lunch snacks. Shop and Chippy near by and the city 10 min walk, god ill be 12 stone by Christmas, perhaps thats why you get your own, lovely, clean, well decorated, double aspect office. Well look on the bright side, if I fall out with the old man, I have somewhere to sleep xx0

Job
HI All -
I too finally managed to get a job after several months looking. I am a Assistant Controller so all that PEV and PCR is coming in handy now( and it is still not my favourite area...lol). It is only a contract role, but any job is a job in my opinion. I've now applied for a permanent position with the company as a financial accountant and hope I manage to get it as it is a great company and only half and hour from my area.0 -
Well done!
Good luck with the application for the financial accountant too!0 -
Yeah well Done Tigger37!0

Update, still going strong and its been a really good learning curve getting back into a working team. My team buddy Jackie who is training me is a really nice, fair and likes to have a laugh person. My line manager Glyn (Glynis) bought me a book to read as I have been busing it. Come back Como its about a dog that is taken on from the rescue kennels. I finished it in 5 days really good read, if you are into pooches that is.0
-
Glad to hear all the hard work helps, good luck Tigger37, I took a job that was only a 1 year contract and have been there over 8 years, they are noe helping me to get my AAT.0

Well i have made some boo boos but fri boo boo might get me the sack, i owe my line manager and apology and only in my 4th week, do i grovel or just say im sorry for my lack of attention to detail xx I feel she is so disappointed in my reaction and response xx0
-
I would be honest and explain what went wrong and how you are going to correct it or ask how you can correct it and possibly tell her, how you are going to avoid it in the future.
That way you tell her you made a mistake, offer to correct it yourself, so she doesn't have to spent time correcting it and if you can avoid it in the future, you showed improvement, and therefore it shouldn't happen again.0 -
When you make a mistake, sometimes it can be instinctive to be defensive and not respond in the best way.
Like Rinske says, make a point of apologising and explain what happened and how you can fix it. Don't grovel too much but let her know you realise what you did wrong. Any reasonable person should hopefully take that on board in a positive way.
Employees make mistakes, we all make mistakes, we're all human. Generally speaking, you can't get sacked over making a mistake.0 -
to me sometimes mistakes are a good thing its all part of the learning curve and i bet your manager agrees i wouldnt beat yourself up to much about this, like others have said apologise and try to move on and show that you are a little phased over this but it wont stop you proving the good worker you are0
