Hi,

I just thought I would see how everyone else is doing with these units, I am finding it really hard to remember everything at the moment. I seem to be fine when I am looking at my notes but when it comes to answering questions I just get the answers totally wrong. We had the first section of the June 2010 personal tax paper to do for homework for tomorrow and I have just got completely different answers to what the answer should be! I am supposed to be doing the personal tax exam at the end of this month but I've got no idea how I'm going to pass it!

Is anyone else finding this year really hard?? I am putting a lot more time into studying outside of college this year but it doesn't seem to be helping much!! I suppose doing two units at once is harder than last year but I'm concentrating more on the limited company accounts side of it rather than the tax.

Just though I would have a bit of a moan anyway lol, I'd better try learn a bit more of it!!

Emma

It's a lot more to take in than last year and having exams throughout the year keeps the pressure on. I think the personal tax is going OK, but I think I'm one of the lucky ones that just seems to "get it", but I'll let you know if that is really true after the exam!

Wish I could say the same about Ltd Co Accounts. When I think about it, it shouldn't be that difficult - it's just an extension of FRA. But my brain feels like it's swimming through treacle most of the time.

I just feel like giving up on it this week - I know I won't because it seems stupid after getting this far. It's just hard trying to understand it after being at work all day. I've just reached a question on charitable donations and I didn't understand them at all last time I looked at them!! I just hope it'll all just make sense one day!

Its definately lots to take it and seems soo much harder than intermediate. I pretty much studied all the personal tax workbook to then find out that the assignments arent even ready yet so all that ive learnt is escaping from my brain, fast!

I studied every night for 2 weeks and am now having a week off by reading a book on Lance Armstrong. If anyone thinks all this work is too hard and want to give up i suggest reading his book and then see how they feel about giving up (random i know but relevant).

    Hi Emma,

I felt exactly the same with MAC in June, I seriously thought about not sitting the exam because I couldn't get to grips with variances. I'm glad I stuck at it though cos by some miracle I passed. Give yourself a couple of days off to give yourself a break.

Best of louck I'm sure you'll be fine.

And I thought I was the only one who was on the verge of giving up. It seems that all of us at Technician Level are struggling to study at the minute. For the past week or two I just cant get into studying. Nothing is going in anymore and I am losing the will to do this now.

Cant remember seeing so many people feeling like this before.

Thanks for the replies, I'm glad it's not just me thinking that there is too much work. I've been doing college work at lunchtime at work and have been trying to do a few hours a night. I will be glad when the first exam is out of the way. Just when one thing starts to make sense we start on something else the following week which seems completely new - I think capital gains tax which we did tonight is the only bit of personal tax which has made a bit of sense without spending hours revising it - quite happy with that.

Hopefully all the hard work will pay off in the end.

I'm so glad everyone else feels like this. I thought it might just be me but I so felt like not even entering for the exams and just giving up, I waited right till the last day to enter for the exams as I just keep asking myself is it worth it and will I stay happy doing it and using it in the future.

I'm taking PCR and BTC (which is a re-sit :-() at the begining of Decemeber and I just haven't got any will to study. As soon as I pick up my books I feel like giving up and convince myself I've got enough time to cram it in, but the weeks are slipping by!!

I suppose it doesn't help that I'm getting married the week after the exams so got that pressure aswell but I'm just hoping BTC sinks into my head enough to pass.

I just find myself looking at the answers all the time when I do the practice tests! Oh I hope they are nice to us in this exam sitting!!
