Hi

I'd like to subscribe to a magazine/paper which will help my general knowledge of accountancy, maybe a monthly periodical. There are several that I can look at on a computer screen, but as I spend most of my day using one, I'd like somthing made out of paper!

I work for two small companies so I'm not looking for information about the money markets, just general tips and useful information.

Can anybody help me?

    Money Week, Financial Times?

Although its all a bit dull, I get more than my fix with the Sunday Times.

I have looked at both of these and I do read the Sunday Times too, but I am looking for something more general to learn more about accounting concepts etc, like the AAT magazine, but it's not really enough, especially now it's bi-monthly.

Thank you for your suggestions :)

    Have you tried 'Accountancy Magazine'?

I havent looked at it myself, but apparently it covers not only news stories but also technical bits and pieces. Its also sent out to members if ICAEW.

    Heres their website -

    http://www.accountancymagazine.com

    might be worth a look.

Thanks PGM, but I was looking for a paper copy rather than reading on a computer as I look at a computer screen all day

I agree, after looking at the screen all day its much nicer to read paper. I was disappointed when the ACCA mag went online, stopped reading it then....
    +1 Accountancy Magazine

But Β£86 for a years sub? Worth it if its good I guess!

I read Accountancy Age although the supply seems to be a bit patchy!

    That's a really useful one

The CIMA mag is very good. That with the AAT one is fairly good coverage for me. Its seems to have gone to an email version in December so if anyone wants its forwarded on to them just let me know.

About half that if you are a student .... but yes it is good. I used to subscribe to it when I was a student and it gives a good combination of current finance articles and professional updates. Not sure what it is like now but it used to be the best I could find. Besides... even at Β£86 how many copies of the FT is that?

    Concessionary rate (Student/Retired/Career Break)

    One year - UK: Β£62.10

When you think about it is is just over Β£1 a week. So if you skip your daily paper for a day it is covered! :)
