Haya !
I was wondering if you could help me: one of our employee decided to join our pension scheme, we own him 3 years of back payment towards his pension contribution. I have been told that the employer could claim tax relief on this payment. Is it correct ? and if so anybody could tell me where to find more info about it? and who to contact ?
Cheers
Hi

Don't really know the answer but it does sound reasonable. The Inland Revenue are really helpful. If you contact them on the Employer's Helpline - not sure where you are from but our number is 0845 7 143 143, your Employer's Pack from the IR will have your local number.

Hope this helps a little.

the test is, is the payment wholly and exclusively for business purposes. In this case it is, it is part of a remuneration package which you are required by statue to offer. The ex[ense is now, the fact it arose because of past service does not matter. Include in employee costs and retain documentation.
