Hi there, ive got my Budget cba next week and wondered if it was similar to the online practice assessment?
I think ive covered the syllabus and feel ok-ish about it. I was just wondering if there were any "tricks" in it or anything that might crop up not covered in the osborne book?
Thanks. ;-)

Hi
Mine was pretty much the same apart from one written question asking for other external factors that should be considered when setting budgets. This was a company importing cotton from India, so i guessed things like bad weather effecting cotton fields, fuel costs effecting the carriage, a competitor setting up directly in India rather than importing materials to UK etc. I haven't had my results yet though.

Thanks for that Nick, I'll read over external factors that may effect budgets just in case I get a CBA similar to yours. Good luck with your results, I really hope you pass!0

Budget CBA
Hi Sarah
I wasn't able to sit my budget CBA in December due to the IT teething problems, I finally got round to sitting it a couple of days ago. I did think I'd covered the revision unfortunately, both both written memo questions (2nd parts) caught me out. One asking to explain the importance of standard costing budgets and the other about revenue and forecasting cash budgets. Seem pretty straight forward now I've read up on them, however they freaked me out in the exam as I hadn't come accross either in the memo style questions in my Kaplan revision books. I'm not confident I'll scrape the mark. Make sure you do a quick read up on them and good luck. K0 -
Hi all
Please can you advise where i can find the the practise cba to have a go on.
Good luck with your exam and all waiting for results0 -
Thanks for that K, I'll make sure I read up on those too! The memo/email type questions always seem to throw me too. It's sometimes hard to tell exactly what they're getting at! Can you remember if variances came up in the budget cba eg. Direct material price variance, volume capacity variance etc etc? My budgeting book does mention them & I remember them from the financial performance cba but the practice budget cba just seems to have flexed budgets & these are then compared with actual budgets and the variances just listed as favourable or adverse. Thank you for all your help & good luck with your exam results!0

Just a point to note:
Whilst general chat about paper exams would be OK once exams have been sat, with the new computer based assessments, questions remain live even after you've taken your assessment. What does this mean? Well, some of you have now released information on a couple of possible questions and, therefore, have now given other students an unfair advantage becuase they now know details of at least two questions. Surely the last thing anyone wants is assessment results to be delayed any more because of integrity issues?0 -
Thats a good point Welsh Wizard. I might try and word my posts regarding exams differently from now, so that i don't refer to questions directly.
Thanks

I should have come here and read your message before yesterday's exam.
I came across these two questions, and freaked me out, i am doomed to fail0
