Hi

james tax code is 522T. this is changed to tax code 480T by the hmrc with effect from the beginning of month 9.

Earnings so far 15550
Tax so far 2414

complete the P11 for the following months
month 9 james will earn 1800
month 10 james will earn 350
month 11 james will earn 2951

Am i right in saying for month 9?

Box 1A £421.00
Box 1b £55.00

not sure about boxes d and e

im stuck on this and the next two months if someone could run it through with me and if i take into account what he has already earnt and been taxed as I am all in a muddle it would be much appreciated

Thanks :-(

I don't know (they still do manual payroll calculations?!?!); however, if you download 12Pay software (free) you can put the dates/codes/numbers in and it will calculate it for you, and you can then view the P11 so you can see if you're doing it right.

Sorry, not quite the answer, but it's an answer!

Ok, firstly, Is this for the current tax year? And are we assuming that the NI Rate is A

Boxes 1d and 1e are the earnings up to the Upper Earnings Limit and the total of Ees and Ers Ni Conts. You are right so far.

I cannot remember how you calculate box 1d, but I know the answer is 0.00 ( as I have the tables in front of me) Box 1e is calculated as follows

    Earns £1800, less box 1a, less box 1b -£421 - £55 = £1324 x 11% = £145.64 = ees conts
    Earns £1800, less box 1a, less box 1b -£421 - £55 = £1324 x 12.8% = £169.47 = Ers Conts
Total = £315.11 ees and ers

He will not earn enough in month 10 to pay NI and in month 11 just follow the same rules as above.

Do you also need help with the tax?
