On page 16 of the AAT's anti money laundering toolkit there's a list of questions which the JMLSG guidance sugests that we ask when confirming a client's identity, most of which are pretty standard stuff, but what about question 7 which asks for 'dependants including children and their ages'. It's not something I do routinely ask my clients and I can't see what its got to do with AML - can anyone shed any light??
