Old Cheques

Hi all
Wondered if you could help, started running a beaver scout colony recently and was given a cash tin with cheques dating back 2 years. Can i legally ask for a new cheque to be raised from the parents?
Any help would be appreciated

I'm sure its not illegal, just send a nice letter explaining its been missed paying into the bank, the cheque has now expired and please would they issue a new one. To help the organisation....0

i had to do the same and the parents were really cool about it.
i also do our local scout group and it has led on to me being the district treasurer too
