A colleague has approached me with regard to a first set of company accounts...
The client incorporated 02.12.2009 and has drawn up a set of accounts for the period to 31.12.2010...abbreviated accounts have been filed with Companies House for this period
The query is with regard to CT600....as the period is longer than 12 months 2 x CT600 will be required....but what date range will each cover?
Also the client has stated that the company was dormant from 02.12.2009 to 01.01.2010....does this have any impact on the completion of the CT600 returns
Any advice gratefully accepted

If the company had started trading in Dec 2009, then the 2 CT600s would be 02/12/09 - 01/12/10 then 02/12/10-31/12/10
Therefore, the 12 month period is always the first 12 month and the "extra bit" is the 2nd CT600.
In your case as they started trading on 01/1/10, then you can do 1 CT600 from 01/1/2010 - 31/12/2010.0 -
Many thanks as always :-)0

Would you not also need to complete a CT600 for the dormant period? We always do.0

There is no need that I am aware of to complete a CT600 if a company is dormant.0

I also want to add that, if you were doing this:If the company had started trading in Dec 2009, then the 2 CT600s would be 02/12/09 - 01/12/10 then 02/12/10-31/12/10
Then the due date for payment of tax for the first period would be 9month+1day from 01/12/10. This often catches people out.0
