Continuity of Practice

Hi All!
I've decided to take the plunge and apply for MIP licence. I've got a query about the continuity of practice.
I don't yet have any clients. (I'm returning to work after a career break to raise my family and have decided to go down the MIP route, as it offers me a level of flexibility in working hours etc.)
I have looked in the members directory and identified local MIPs. I'm unsure what to do next. Should I make contact my phone/email? Or do I find somebody through this forum.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Sorry... bit of a typo there, I meant to say "should I contact BY phone/email?"
Basically, I'm hoping to offer book-keeping, payroll, VAT, management accounting and budgeting and forcasting.
I'm just a bit unsure about what to do about the continuity of practice, as, due to aforementioned career break, I'm a bit short of contacts in the accounting world. I was hoping to get my MIP licence and build my contacts afterwards.
Also, I've been reading the sticky about mentoring. How would I go about finding a mentor?
Any advice would be great.
Thanks0
