AAT branch meetings

I attended the Cornwall branch meeting today & it was very good as usual. Once again an attendance of 30/40 plus.
I was chatting to the speaker ( a chartered accountant & a very good speaker ) and he was very surprised at the numbers that turn out for these meetings, even on a Saturday.
It seems that other accountancy bodies do not get such good member involvement at a local level?
I think the branch network of A.A.T. is definitely one of its key strengths. I would value anyone else's thoughts on this?
