Hey,
I took my BTX exam last week. Wasn't too bad, same kind of format as the mock one on the AAT website but some of the questions were phrased differently and I got a lot more on payment dates and amounts.
The best tips I can give you is make sure you know if you're dealing with a company or individual/partnership and watch those dates! They tend to throw in at least a question where it's not a full 12 months!
Good luck!

I did my Business Tax last week, the test was hard but interesting. I didn't do Personal Tax and there were quite a few questions on personal tax in the test, so I think I'll be a borderline pass/failure. I did a lot of practice from the BPP question bank, but in hindsight I should have done the 2 mock CBEs on the AAT website. I got stuck on one question on base periods, where the accounts were shown from 1st January 2008 to 31st August 2009, I couldn't compute the tax basis for the third tax year.0

Thank you both for the replys.
Please could someone confirm the order of the additions with AIA and without AIA on for the capital allowances? I am getting so confused as the exams on AAT website are different to my Kaplan book.0 -

I'm about 2/3 through the book at the moment, it just seems so boring, nothing interesting at all to take from it! Things are starting to come together slowly though.
It all seems about dates, periods and different kinds of rules. Is there anything I should pay particular attention to in the test?0 -
I didnt mind studying this subject as we do a lot of this at work. You need to know the tax computations and section 2 is a lot of multiple choice and as above what the others said, payment dates, sole trader or limited company. Have you got an exam date?0
