Anyone doing ACCA and wish they weren’t?
Am doing the last 3 exams to qualify; the only motivating aspects seem to be:
1) Finish what I started
2) The qualification might be of use at some time in the future, but cannot see
anything concrete right now.
I was encouraged to take it after AAT by a previous employer and got off to a flying start – 3 first time passes, but downhill from there – particularly when we got a new manager. On occasion, it has looked like a lot of wasted time, money and effort, but would be an even bigger waste if I gave up now. Am unemployed and it doesn’t seem to have helped me in my career – in fact quite the opposite – it’s something of a hindrance, restricting me to bookkeeping and payroll if I wanted to go into practice, for a start.
Don’t think I’d recommend it to anyone else to be honest.
Thoughts?

Its a tough one, I know a lot of people that are struggling now, that have earned big wages previously. You have to be careful basing decisions on the current economic climate, because they might not be the right ones if and when the economy picks up.0

Oh I wish I was in your position with just 3 exams to go lol.
I've passed F4 with 73% which was okish but am in the doldrums with F5.
My level of motivation has been reduced by having to buy study texys from BPP and learn it all myself with zero support.
I'm also unemployed and wonder what is the point too. Then again I think we do what we most want to do in the end. After all I still get out of bed wanting to do it in the morning.
The current economic climate is terrible at the moment but things will improve. The way I look at it is if I get ACCA in the end then I can always take it abroad if things don't pick up in the UK.0
