Advice required - Servicing my car

Good Morning Folks
My car needs servicing and a friend of a friend (who is not a qualified mechanic, but has spent the last 6 years working along side a mechanic), has offered to service my car.
How can I make sure that he has done the service 'properly'? What are the minimum amount of things that need to be changed/checked for in a car when servicing it?
Thanks in advance for your response.

In the past I've changed my own oil. But I'm not sure how often you need to change/check oil in the diff's and gearbox.
Then check other joints and oil them, clean change spark plugs. Take wheels off and check brakes.
I'd be surprised if he has all the tools to do this?0
