Flat Rate VAT question

This is probably obvious but just to make sure... a website designer would fall under 'Computer and IT consultancy or data processing' for flat rate VAT wouldn't they?

Not in my opinion.
Other business services is 2.5% less and that is where I put my web designers. I would argue very different to consultancy or data processing which have very few VATable costs in comparison.0 -
I agree with Dean (I know my place)!
I went to a VAT CPD course just recently and the speaker there who is an expert on the Flat rate scheme said that if it doesn't exactly fit a specific consultancy then to put it into other business services which is a smaller percentage. As long as you have chosen a reasonable sector then it cannot be challenged retrospectivly - only going forward.0 -
I would check with the VAT man anyway.0

Ah that's good news - thanks, he'll be chuffed with that!0
