LinkedIn for Job Searchers

Is it an effective way of finding possible jobs? I'm pretty much desperate for any Accountancy experience/employment at the moment and I always come across it with recruitment agencies etc.

Does anyone here use/recommend it?

I regularly use LinkedIn and I think it is one of the great social networking tool to get noticed.
