F8 Is Impossible

With only a few days left until we get thrown in at the deep end how is everyone feeling about F8. I am really fed up with this exam. I can't understand what the examiner might want where substantial testing is concerned. I can't understand what the hell the technical articles are saying because they just rush through a topic and on top of all this there is nothing out there to help us in terms of tutors :(

I think you would really benefit from tuition in a structured environment.

I agree the ACCA papers are very tough but it is sometimes a question of working at the topics until you get a handle
    on them.

I'm sitting F5 and not feeling massively confident but will have a go.

Just ease up on yourself and do your best.

How many times have you sat F8?

I taught myself F8 last year and was pleased I passed as I didn't feel very confident going into the exam. I found it really helped to be positive - before the exam started I sat there and thought "some people in this room are going to pass this exam, why shouldn't one of them be me?"

I'd read some of the examiner comments how some people answered parts of questions in columns - i.e headings for area that can be improved, why it should be improved, how it can be improved - so I made sure I did this. I also made sure I answered something for all parts of all questions as you don't get any marks for writing nothing. I didn't have any time left at the end (other than about a minute and by then I'd given up!) so I knew I couldn't have done any more. I believe you do get some marks for writing something sensible and relevant, when the model answers came out for the exam I'd taken I didn't think I'd wrote anything like it! Also with the scenario questions, the answers will be in the scenario - i.e list five weaknesses in this business - the answers are there for you, just work through all the writing and pick them out.

    Best of luck.

PS - Mark, thanks for your positive comments about F4 on the other thread :)

I am a bit out of touch with exams now, but would have audit been included as part of the AAT sylabus? If so, how did you get on with that? I agree that not working in an audit environment isnt helpful. I passed this equivalent exam about 12 years ago without any audit experience. Its not easy, but achievable. As others have previously said, why not take other ACCA papers first and come back to the audit one, it might help build a stronger base of knowledge to tackle the audit exam, I know too late for December. What ACCA have you passed?

This is my forth attempt at F8 and I cannot understand why I cannot pass this. I went on a question day and the tutor said that my answers were all borderline fails but she didn't tell me why. I just feels like I am being victimised to a extent:(

    Why are you being victimized?
