Hello again!

Apologies if this has come up before.

If somebody claimed mileage allowance in previous years self assessment, can they change to claiming fuel receipts, repairs etc instead the next year?

Thanks in advance,

J

They can only change methods when they change vehicles.

Which is fair I suppose. Otherwise people would save up the jobs, and have a high repair cost in one year, before going back to the mileage allowance.

This is true, however if the fuel recipts etc what are claimed are reflective of the mileage IE similar value it then it wont make much difference. EG Mileage - £0.40 @ 5000 miles = £2000, receipts entered £1900. However you cant chop and change to get a tax advantage with the same vehicle.
