I am going to study for F7 for June exams and will start next week. If I order your IAS book direct from a bookshop will it arrive any earlier than the 20 th April as shown on Amazon? I could do with it ASAP if possible

Glynis, please get yourself a proper textbook, it is tailored exactly to the syllabus.0

I will get myself a textbook but need something else also to help me understand the subject. I didn't like DFS at all and know I think I'll struggle with F7 so need all the help I can get.0

No offence to Steve but try clare finch's book, it's written with aat/ACCA f7/ACCA p2 in mind and sectioned accordingly. more importantly it's available now!0

Glynis,
With respect, we have already had this discussion in a previous thread and I think I'm merely going to say the same thing to you.
I do not (and cannot) control the date on which my publisher prints and publishes my IFRS For Dummies book. The production schedule is finalised by the publisher and I believe publication date is 20 April (as per Amazon) - May for overseas buyers.
Glynis, if you really need a book to supplement your F7 studies sooner than 20 April, then I advise you to purchase Clare Finch's Students Guide to IFRS because that's already out in the market. I would also endorse Bluewednesday's recommendation that you purchase a reputable text book also making sure that it is suitable for exams in 2012.

Steve I already have that book by Claire Finch but it doesn't have any examples you can work through to help you understand. That is what I am trying to get accross , I need EASY TO UNDERSTAND books. I have ordered get through guides for F7 but need your IAS book.0

Which is why you need a text book! My book is NOT a text book as I have said in a previous thread. It contains examples, but not examples you work through and then turn to the back of the chapter/book for the answer. I write technical books, not text books. That is what I am trying to get accross , I need EASY TO UNDERSTAND books. I have ordered get through guides for F7 but need your IAS book.
My book will only complement your studies and please bear in mind that my book isn't written purely for students. My target audience includes professionally-qualified accountants as well.

Ok but I recall you saying that your Dummy book was for students but now it's not? How is that possible?0

Glynis
if you read the Amazon description of the book, you will see at the final paragraph of the description it says this:
If youβ²re an accountant, student, or trainee in need of accessible information on IFRS, this handsβon, friendly guide has you covered.
I have not said in any thread that the book is specifically for students.

Hi Steve,
Can I ask if the new book & the other one you did on IFRS/IAS are going to be available on Kindle, I know your Audit book is and makes it so much easier for carrying around. I will of course purchase the book a soon as it is published as I did the other.

Hello Jan
My 'Core Aspects' book is now out of date, but it was republished through AccountingWEB as The AWEB Guide to IFRS which is up to date. Thank you for your comments about the audit book!! Much appreciated. I would imagine the publisher will put the IFRS for Dummies book as a Kindle (though I do believe it takes a while from when the book is published in paperback), but in the meantime what I'll do is ask them next week if they can give me a promo code as well, so that you can get a discount as well (Wiley's are usually quite generous with their discounts). If I can get one I'll put details on here.0 -
Glynnis,
You really need to concentrate on learning a new syllabus through the ACCA books provided by Kaplan
and BPP.
The study texts are designed to guide you through all you need to know and you need to concentrate
on those texts.
You seem to over complicate things.

Hi Steve.
Thanks, I really do find your material easy to follow and understand and although I'm only half way through AAT alot of it makes sence to me as well.

May I suggest a textbook? Although I'm a CIMA student, I did do Accounting and Finance at university and this was my set text for the Audit and Auditability (or whatever it was actually called) course.
The Audit Process by Iain Gray and Stuart Manson.
It is a book for students, but not ACCA-specific. This makes it a textbook about audit rather than about passing the ACCA F8 exam, which isn't quite the same thing. I find this kind of textbook useful as the BPP/Kaplan/etc authors have too much of an attitude of omitting topics which aren't strictly on the syllabus but help link things together. But it's probably best to see that as a supplement to an 'official' textbook, or have a very thorough understanding of the syllabus to ensure you haven't missed anything.0 -
You know what Glynis I am 28 with a you g family who got told on Friday that I could be redundant. You have a gripe about the one person on here that takes your crap and never retaliates with so much as a by or leave. You insult Steve and you insult the whole proffession Glynis so stop relying on Steve, stop relying on his books and his advice and just take some bloody responsibility for yourself

Hi
Deep breaths please!
I feel it's a little strong to say that I was insulted - some posts are more challenging than others, but I think 'insulted' is a bit too strong a word.
All the best

Oh dear, I haven't been on these forums for over 6 months and the first post I see when I log in is from Glynis to Steve. It's like groundhog day! :ohmy:0

Glynis, you need to get a text book for the exam, not just one that may cover some of the syllabus!
If not, you will fail exams, as you will be missing information.
(Steve I wish you luck in your new book!)0 -

I agree with the above post. I am also mid 20's with a young family, with my partner being made redundant 2 weeks after baby is due (may). I hope things work out for you Barry, as I am in the same boat, and its not a nice feeling. Makes a exam result feel less important!0
