Career options with an AAT qualification and/or a chartered accountant qualification?

Hi Folks

I am thinking of continuing my studies after completing the AAT in order to become a chartered accountant.

However, the only thing that is worrying me is that I may not get a job as an accountant after years of hard studying.

Can someone give ideas of how I can work for myself as an accountant, in case no employer is willing to give me a job? I know book-keeping is one option.

Also, if I decided to stop my studies after completing the AAT, what are my career options then?
