Just wondering how many times people had to submit their project before it got accepted?

A few areas of my 1st draft have come back as "not yet competent".

I had some small points to expand on after my first draft and it was marked competent about 5 days later on the second submission.

Wow! 5 days; that's quick! Who do you study with? Did you have to a telephone interview before they updated within 5 days?

How quickly was your MyAAT updated?

Hi Im soon to submit my first draft. How long did it take for AAT to get back to you? And do they give a feedback report?
Id also like to know what the usual number of submissions is for passing.

    Regards
    Ily

Took 2 weeks to receive a feedback report.

Hopefully I pass on my 2nd submission; I've made all the changes they wanted me to make.

I study with Premier Training, and yes they are very quick in terms of getting ICAS submissions back. I think the second submission should come back quicker than the first, as they will just check over the areas they asked you to revise.

I had to have a telephone interview - my tutor advised it is a requirement for everyone (not sure how true that is !) We didn't really talk about my project, just about my plans for work /studies going forward.

I was advised that in addition to IV my project had been selected for examination by AAT (not all are - just a certain percentage of each training providers) even with this though it took maybe 10 days to show up on my statement of acheivement.

Well, you're early there now reader :) I'm just waiting on the exam results for my final unit (auditing). It seems so much loooooonger somehow when I know that that whole qualifiation is just this one result away !

Good luck and I hope you have your result back soon.

I know what you mean regarding waiting for the result of the final unit- I'm finding it slightly agonising waiting for this project result.

Hopefully I get the calll next week saying I've passed and then get MyAAT updated and the MAAT certificate soon after.

Onto ATT now and then MiP status. You're doing ICAEW now, right?

I'm hoping to do the professional accounting degree course at Manchester Met which combines ACA with a degree. It will only (only ! Haha!) cost me £2800 to get a degree and professional qualifications. Its a lot of money, but compared to the cost of doing a full time degree it is manageable.

I'm submitting my application this week so I'll let you know how I get on :) I have had a look at ATT as I had heard others say very good things about it. It looks like a really interesting course.

As I don't have an honours degree I think my route in to practice will require me getting a degree in a relevant subject so I can try and apply through graduate trainee schemes. I've had absolutely no joy via the AAT "school leaver" route and believe me, I am very tenacious ! Getting in to practice when you are not a school leaver or a recent graduate is a really really tough nut to crack !

£2,800 for an ACA profressional degree course sounds like a bargin to me; I think it will proove to be an excellent investment; especially if you write off the cost of the degree (£2,800) over a working life time i.e. 70 years old - 20 years old = 50 years, i.e. £2,800 / 50 years = £56/year.

I was lucky; I managed to get onto a 3 month graduate internship in a practice which turned into a full time AAT-funded (and now ATT-funded) permanent position.

Practice is a hard nut to crack but if I can do it anyone can; my degree is in biology by the way!

Good luck with everything and thanks for all the help you've given me re: budgeting, performance and ICAS.

IV is carried out by your training provider - so it all comes down to how efficient they are at getting units signed off. Hope it shows up on your statement soon !

    Whats ATT?

ATT = Association of Taxation Technicians

If you work in practice it is a qualification that you may find quite useful; you'll have to do a personal tax exam, a business tax exam (unless you have done business tax at AAT), and other tax exam (e.g. VAT, business compliance, corporation tax, etc) as well as two computer based tests on ethics and law.
