AAT know-it-all thread

Recently I asked whether some of you would be up for helping to answer AAT-related questions that pop up around the web.
Dean had the splendid idea of creating a thread into which we (AAT) could post links to such questions, so that AAT's knowiest know-it-alls (in the nicest possible way :001_smile:) could then go and answer.
Well, readers, this is that thread!
Your starter for 10, should you be a member of Accounting Web:
http://www.accountingweb.co.uk/anyanswers/question/options-after-aat
(If you answer it, a mention of our MIP zone might be nice: https://services.aat.org.uk/myaat/mip_zone/)
Thanks! Go forth and show off! :001_tongue:

Yay, a thread just for me!!
I didn't include the MIP zone link as it can only be accessed when you are logged in.0 -
Dean, I like your answer, you make us sound like a nice friendly bunch.0

Not all students or members use the forums though. I think it's actually a very select group that does. Not sure if they are just not aware of them or don't think them useful enough to check...0

... and if we answer questions like these helpfully while also providing a link to these here forums, we raise the profile of the platform and its helpful members :001_smile:

One of the sites I monitor for mentions of AAT is Yahoo! Answers. While the questions asked across the site could diplomatically be described as "extremely varied", someone tends to ask about AAT most weeks - is it the right path for them, what kind of job will they be qualified to do, etc.
AAT's Student Recruitment team have helped me out with a lot of answers, but it might also be nice for people to receive answers from experienced members.
So, if you'd like to have a go, here's one about what to do after AAT...
(By the way, the new page for the MIP scheme in front of the login is: http://www.aat.org.uk/membership/becoming-a-member-in-practice)
And here's my profile, with some of my previous answers for examples/guidance.
Trying to ensure you're awarded "best answer" is surprisingly addictive...! :001_smile:*AAT Essentials - AAT's accounting and finance short courses*

A couple from The Student Room, which is a site where current/prospective students discuss study options and careers. Can anyone help with these?
1. ''How can you add value to our company?'' Question - help please!
2. Help a 20 something stuck in crap job get into accounting! - "From what I've read so far it seems AAT is the best way to enter the profession and from there you can develop as you like - would you agree?"*AAT Essentials - AAT's accounting and finance short courses*

I use the UK business forums a lot, both for giving and receiving advice. It is more business orientated than accounting web, in that it covers all sectors, and quite often all levels of ability! (http://www.ukbusinessforums.co.uk/forums/index.php)
AAT is often mentioned to people asking about bookkeepers/accountants, either as a supplier to their business or for people wanting to set up themselves. Regular themes are that micro business seem to employ accountants without knowing what if any qualifications they have, and people want to set up as a bookkeper but don't know what liscences or training they need, or how they should decide what to charge etc.
Often, I end up on this website unintentionally when looking for answers to other business queries, I find it really usefull.0 -
