Raising Invoices

Is it acceptable to raise a sales invoice only for the deposit with regard to an event that will be held at a date several months (often a year) in the future
Then raise an invoice for the balance outstanding shortly before the event is held.
The implication of this would be to ease cash flow with regard to the payment of output Vat

Not only acceptable, but very sensible!
If the payment terms are x% deposit in advance and y% balance a month before event, then it's fine to invoice x and y on their respective dates.0 -
