Finally took the plunge for ATT

After completing AAT several years ago I set out on ACCA. I realised it was not for me due to my own ambitions of running my own practice. I left the practice I was at and set up on my own with the intention of doing ATT. I quickly found I didn't have the time with the continued growth.

Since February we have moved into offices and I now have little to do with my evenings. So I decided at long last to sign up to do the ATT. I've got my yellow & orange books from tolleys and have bought a personal tax correspondence course. Just got to decide how many to sit in November and what optional paper to sit?

I know there are lots of others of you studying ATT at the moment and that sort of pushed me on really. If I don't do it now then I really don't think I would ever do it.

Best of luck to all you others.
Regards,

Burg

I have just signed up as well and decided to sit Personal Tax in November 2012 and Corporate Tax in May 2013. I'm taking the exemption from paper 2. It was a toss up between Corporate Tax and Business Compliance for me.

I am doing a distance learning course and waiting for my materials. I still need to buy my yellow and orange books though.

    Good luck Ian!

I'm also starting ATT and taking Personal Tax in November. I'm taking the exemption from Business task even though I'm not finished AAT yet. Nice to see tat lots of others are studying for this as well!

Woop woop! Well done Ian :D

Good luck - it's well worth it.

I just have my e-assessments to do now - I have the study pack, just need to find the time to do it.

I'm using the same provider I did for AAT - Aplustraining. They're based in the South West.

    Hi Guys :)

I've just sat my last ATT exam (Business Compliance) and am awaiting the results!

Good luck to everyone starting ATT or waiting for results!

I studied with BPP and they were terrible - but I suppose they don't specialise in tax! My friends have recently started studying with Tollys and they are apparently amazing.

How do you find them Gem? I'm going to be using them for some or all of my ACA.

For AAT I went for the monthly workshop + revision course and I couldn't rate them highly enough. I passed all exams first time and felt confident in what I was learning and all the tutors were excellent.

But for ATT distance learning I have to say I'm not impressed, the Virtual Learning Environment (moodle) isn't what I expected it to be. But I don't think I've grasped how to actually use it so I'm having someone show me how to use it properly on Tuesday. I'll keep you updated if you like. When do you start your ACA study Dean?

Ah, yes they have mentioned "moodle" to me too. I used Tolleys when I did my ATT and I have to say other providers have a lot to live up too as Tolleys were excellent!

Yes, if you could keep me updated that would be great!

I've already started ACA study, in fact I've just sat my second paper today so hence my delayed reply - apologies!

I get my result in the morning and the plan is to register with Aplus tomorrow and start tuition with them on the 11th June. Fingers firmly crossed all goes to plan!
